Teaching & Learning

Secondary

Dalwallinu District High School aims to provide our secondary students with effective teaching and learning programs across years 7-12 through a combination of face-to-face teaching and distance learning.

Students in Year 7 -10 complete subjects from the learning areas outlined in the Western Australian Curriculum. These are: The Arts, English, Health & Physical Education, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences and Design and Technologies. All these subjects are delivered face-to-face except Woodwork, which is delivered through the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) with the support of a local staff member.

Students in Year 11-12 complete their senior schooling through SIDE. They have a range of pathway choices that allow for the attainment of a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Our SIDE coordinator and Secondary Deputy support our students to make decisions on the pathways that meet their needs. Students working through SIDE are supported by our SIDE Coordinator to complete their tasks and engage in the content.
